Why does umount hang after I kill the daemons with Control-C?

Killing the daemons with Control-C (or kill) is bad, because the daemons don’t unregister themselves from the RPC portmapper. Then, when umount tries to contact the mount daemon (which is no longer running) through RPC, it hangs. This will happen for any program that tries to contact the mount or nfs daemons. The dbxmlfs_shutdown program should be used to properly shut down the DB XML FileServer daemons.
