Why does TSCS offer Latin?
Latin instruction provides a good “workout” for the brain and strengthens cognitive functioning. Studies show that students who study Latin do better on standardized tests than those who have had no Latin instruction. Studying Latin improves a student’s understanding of English grammar and vocabulary. Latin is also the foundation of all the romantic languages including Spanish, French, German, Italian and Romanian so students who know Latin are better prepared to learn any of those languages.
