Why does Traidcraft use air-freight?
Traidcraft’s strategic intention is to minimise the use of air freight. However there are some situations when we will use air freight: – • where there is no other cost-effective route to ship.In particular this applies to craft supplies from some land-locked countries eg Nepal. • when lead times from one of Traidcraft’s wholesale craft customers in UK are in our view very tight and air-freighting means that we are able to minimise the time pressures on producers to fulfil that order. If a decision is taken to air-freight a wholesale order, Traidcraft’s customer is informed of that need. • when we need to approve samples, before main production commences and products need to arrive with us swiftly. • when a craft line proves more popular than we had forecast and we need to place small “top-up” orders mid-season to meet customer demand.
