Why does the Weather Alert page contain both the status and notes?
The “notes” column explains the reasons a campus or head office is closed including severe weather, power outages, weather related state of emergency, and other circumstances beyond Academy Canada’s control. Because campuses or head office could be closed in the morning due to storm, but could reopen in the afternoon, we need to inform our visitors when the Weather Alert page will be updated if necessary. If a campus or head office is open in Corner Brook and/or St. John’s, but severe weather conditions are expected or currently occuring, we will remind people to travel carefully so they can allow extra time to travel to effected campuses or head office.
