Why does the US government say climate change isn’t happening?
President Bush has acknowledged that the earth has warmed and continues to do so, and agrees that climate change ‘is an issue that must be addressed by the world’. In 2001 he said the Kyoto Protocol was fatally flawed in ‘fundamental ways’. He refused to sign the Protocol, claiming it would damage the US economy, and because it did not require the big emitters among the developing countries (specifically China and India) to sign.
