Why does the U.S. government allow companies in America to have their products made in China?

Well at least it’s cheap. And you’re supporting the growth of a former third world country become a modern country with a modern economy. Sure their government has human rights issues but isolating them will only make it worse. It’s NOT a communist country in practice any more. Look at the amount of private companies operating there now! It’s capitalist with some communist elements. The government there likes to play the communist history card ’cause it unites their people. If everyone in the U.S REALLY wanted American made, everything WOULD be American made over there. It’s all driven by consumer demand. But people prefer cheap. Of course, buying American would help your own economy more. In my country (Australia), we tend to sell lots of raw material to China so they can make all that stuff for you. So it’s kind of a win for us as well.
