Why does the tides occur in seas and oceans and not in lake, river or pond?

tides do occur on all lakes, ponds, rivers etc. but they are are not visible because 1) they are very small… 2) they are completely overshadowed by effect of motion of water such as in rivers and motion of wind over water… gravitational force of sun and moon also affects atmosphere producing tides, and even on solid crust and it has been scientifically proved that lava flows of volcanoes is also affected by gravitational forces of sun and moon.
