Why does the test require using both arms?
The subject serves as their own “control”. While endothelial function is tested in one arm, the contra-lateral arm is used to monitor systemic vascular changes (e.g., stress related alterations in autonomic tone, transient environmental effects, etc.) that generally affect both arms. By measuring both arms, EndoPATâ„¢ corrects for systemic changes that may occur during the course of the test. To read more about EndoPAT procedure please refer to EndoPAT Procedure.
