Why does the sun rise at different times?
Sunrise and sunset happen as a result of the Earth’s rotation. The Earth rotates once every 24 hours. The Earth is also revolving in orbit around the Sun. Each orbit takes one year. Because the Earth’s axis is tilted a few degrees, as it revolves around the Sun the angle of the sun changes slightly each day, shining more directly on the Northern Hemisphere in the Summer and Southern Hemisphere in the Winter. It is that gradual change in angle from south to north and back again, that changes the times of sunrise and sunset, and the length of daylight each day.
