Why does the strapped model have a strap that releases?
The quick release strap is designed for helmeted sports and will easily pull away from the mouthpiece in the event that the helmet and/or facemask gets dislocated. This prevents the Protector from getting pulled out of the mouth where it might cause dental injury. When not in use the strap can be left attached to the helmet and the Protector should be stored in it’s protective case.
