We need to ensure that the revenue generated by the application (which comes from advertising and from Gold purchases) covers all the running costs of the application, including the donations we pledge to make to adopt rainforest. Our revenue is not always predictable (online advertising revenues at the moment are extremely low, for example) which means we sometimes need to adjust the amount we pledge to donate accordingly to ensure that we don’t give away more than we can afford! Note that we never apply these changes retrospectively – all the rainforest you have saved so far will stay saved – any changes we make will only apply to plants grown from that point onwards.
