Why does the South Side School start in first grade, and where can students attend kindergarten and pre-k?
Waldorf schools generally start in first grade, with either an attached or affiliated “kindergarten” (preschool) for children ages 3 to 6. There are two Waldorf preschools, one in Pilsen and one in Hyde Park that act as feeder schools to the South Side School. However, we welcome students who have attended kindergarten and preschool at public schools, other private schools, or at home.
