Why does the site look strange in older browsers?
This site starts with a relatively clean slate, designing to good web standards. There will be more information about web standards in a future article, but for now, it just means that there are standards on the web that were ignored or just implemented in a buggy way by past browsers. One of the biggest (and it seems they don’t really learn, even with new versions) offenders is Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. While I’ve tried to make sure the content is reasonably presentable, GeeksInTraining.com does not believe in supporting a browser that doesn’t follow simple web standards, and won’t cater to old, unfixed bugs in IE 6 and lower. If we are to get the web to move forward, I encourage others to do the same. If this is not what you think is happening, please let me know on the contact page.
