Why does the Renault application repeatedly ask me to turn the ignition on and off when attempting to communicate with an ECU?

When the Renault application determines which ECU is fitted to a vehicle we attempt communications using several different Multi-Cable configurations. When the Multi-Cable is configured the ignition must be off otherwise the Multi-Cable will not be configured correctly.
