As part of the process of determining what to do about a new Glenwood Springs High School, several options were evaluated including moving to a 40 acre site south of town on Highway 82, or moving to the current airport site (thus forcing the airport to close). The cost of new infrastructure (street improvements, water/sewer/electrical line extensions, etc.) and land acquisition needed to move the facility and/or athletic fields to either site, were projected to cost taxpayers more than expanding the current site. (Contrary to what some people have said, there is no appropriate property available at the Glenwood Meadows development.) After input from citizens and the Glenwood City Council, the message the district received was clear: Keep GSHS at the current location. This was confirmed by a scientific random sample survey of registered voters in the district conducted this summer, which also indicated that an overwhelming majority of Glenwood citizens (76%) were in favor of keeping the
