Why does the PI need to choose “disciplines” that their proposal falls under if IGERTs theme is interdisciplinarity?
PI’s are not asked to check a single disciplinary box but to explain via key words which disciplines are involved in their proposals: up to 3 disciplines plus an option for one unique key word. Up to 3 discipline key words are asked for because all IGERT proposals are interdisciplinary. At panel IGERT’s goal is to cluster proposals with similar interdisciplinary mixes.
