Why does the patient need to provide the date of birth of the insured?
Several pieces of personal information are required before we can or will access patient accounts. This measure is taken in part to protect the privacy and security of patient and financial information. Additionally, insurance carriers have very specific information that they require from us to verify the insurance coverage is in place for their members. This information includes full name, social security or member ID number, date of birth and address. Providing this information allows the insurance company to confirm that information on the ambulance claim does in fact relate to the correct member.
