Why does the multiburst signal have problems when it is run through certain systems?

The TSG271 does have a peculiar multiburst test signal. Due to space limitations in the signal memory PROMS, the signal was created in the chrominance channel, not in the luminance channel, as is done in most generators. This results in the “filled in” multiburst, due to the 25 Hz offset in the chrominance. For 99% of applications, this is not a problem because the signal is used with a waveform monitor to test a system. In some applications, such as testing CODECs, some problems occur in the testing of frequency response, as the CODEC interprets the signal as chrominance and processes it as such.
