Why does the Mormon Church still teach that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God?
Yes, they still teach that he was a prophet. They could not change that basic precept because it would change the structure of their belief system. If Joseph Smith was not a prophet, then how was he to establish such a strong and long reaching religion. I was raised Mormon, and after I read the Bible cover to cover I still had one duty to perform before I walked out of the church for good, and that was to lead the children in a song for the main church; the song was Praise to the Man, and I was sickened; Praising Joseph Smith. What about the Lord, our Savior. I realized it was a calling because no one can sit and read the Bible for 6-8 hours a day straight reading. I met the Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Bible.
