Why does the moon go around the earth rather than the sun?
Charcin. has the right idea. You can look at the Earth/Moon pair as a system that spins and wobbles around the Sun as a pair. It is much like a twirler’s baton except one end is much bigger than the other . The center of rotation (center of gravity) is between the Earth and the Moon but much closer to the Earth. BOTH the Earth and the Moon revolve about this center and the center of gravity of the pair revolves around the Sun. So it looks from the outside like they are spiraling around the Sun, but because the plane of rotation of the Earth/Moon system is close to the plane of the revolution around the Sun it looks more like a wobble.
