Why does the moon and sun appear the sam angular diameter?
The Moon is 400 times smaller than the Sun, but it’s also 400 times closer, and so they appear pretty much the same size in the sky. (Actually, their sizes both vary by a little bit, because the Moon has an elliptical orbit around Earth, and so does the Earth around the Sun. But they’re very close in size – about half a degree.
