Why does the message editor have a non-standard menu?
There are several reasons for this. First, most work in the message editor is done with the keyboard. Second, the uniformity of the message editor interface is maintained. Third, this considerably saves space on the screen. (This is especially obvious when the screen resolution is 640×480 or 800×600.) Lastly, one window contains all functions that would otherwise be located in several submenus. This way, it is also easier to search for a rarely used command.
