Why does the Library pay for OVID Medline when PubMed is available for free?

The OVID system provides a single interface to search Medline, Cinahl, and Healthstar, among others. In addition to making it easy to move from one database to another, OVID allows for simultaneous searching in multiple databases with removal of duplicate citations. OVID also provides a wide variety of features that are not yet available or fully developed on the free systems.
