Why does the league hold a try-out and draft?
Tryouts are held to assess the different levels of skill among players. We want to have a balanced league so that each game is competitive. The managers conduct a draft of players so that any one team can not gain an advantage of all highly skilled players. This is another advantage of Pony Baseball as compared to travel ball. In Pony baseball, players learn to work as a team with others of various skill levels.
