Why does the Jesus story seem to copy the Egyptian one of Horus?
In a historical sense, arguably all the stories of Jesus were parallels of the dominant modern religions at the time of the founding of Christianity. It goes beyond the story of Horus and Isis (Miraculous conception, resurrection, the celebration of the Blood and Body of the god by eating flatbread and drinking wine). And before anyone says there was no miraculous conception, Osiris had no penis when he was resurrected as a crab ate it, so Isis had to forge one of clay. Also you have the cultural names – the Cultural name of Isis was Madonna. The Cultural name of the Virgin Mary was…Madonna. Both Isis and Horus and Mary with Jesus were depicted in a similar style – with the mother cradling the infant child. True, Jesus was baptised while Horus was not. There are differences. Yet Horus and Jesus were both born of a “god” supposedly, resurrection stories exist in both, both grew up to defy evil, both had conspiracies to kill them, Horus grew up battling the evil brother of Osiris, Set.
