Why does the Hume Home need $800,000 in capital improvements?
The Hume Home’s electrical system is original, i.e., it was installed in 1912. It is in dire need of being updated. Also, the State will soon mandate that all assisted living facilities install back up generators to be used in the event of a power outage. Our electrical system can not handle the technology of a new generator. Other repairs are necessary to this beautiful, 93-year-old building. Residents and their families expect air conditioning in facilities such as the Hume Home. The fire suppression system must be upgraded. An alarm system to central dispatch must be installed. The wood floors are in need of refinishing and brick and stone preservation maintenance must be performed to improve insulation.
