Why does the Gewirz Center need to be renovated?
Since the 1930s, GW Hillel has welcomed students to our nation’s capital as they embarked on their college experiences. For more than 20 years, those experiences have been housed in The Gewirz Center at 2300 H Street, NW. Now, as higher education evolves in the 21st century, so too must GW Hillel. What was once a state-of-the-art 20th century building no longer meets the needs of 21st-century students. In order to create a “home away from home” for our Jewish students, the new Gewirz Center must be a welcoming facility that houses the modern conveniences and technology that are part of the fabric of student life.
