Why does the Geico gecko have a British accent? What do you think his story is?
The Geicko used to the drummer in an English rock band, called “We ain’t Lizards!” They started out in the working class bars and clubs of Liverpool. They were just about to pack it in when they were “discovered” by a record exec out scouting for new talent. Their first CD took off like a rocket. Their second CD did even better. The gecko took up with their lead singer, a sexy female salamander. They were wed at a castle in Ireland. For the next year or so, the band did very well. He and the salamander were very happy. Then one day, the gecko discovered that his wife and their business agent had been cheating him and the rest of the bank royally. Litigation ensued. The band broke up. She cleaned him out in the divorce, alleging that he was inattentive to his spousal duties to her. The chancery court judge took her side and cleaned him out. So, he fled to America.
