Why does the Fahrenheit temperature scale go from 32 degrees for freezing and to 212 degrees for boiling?
A popular theory states that the zero-point of the Farenheit scale was determined by measuring the coldest temperature he could measure (in order to avoid negative temperatures), and then scaling the difference between boiling and freezing points to be a neat 180 degrees. It’s a pretty silly measurement system, almost as silly as the Rankine.
