Why does the elementary school need a multi-purpose room?
The elementary school has needed a multi-purpose room for many years. Currently the elementary school uses its small gym for all large group gatherings including daily lunch, large group presentations, all school presentations, as well as physical education classes. Over the years as the elementary school enrollment has grown and additional classrooms have been added onto the building, the gym has continued to be used as a multi-purpose room despite its small size. In addition, the use of the elementary school gym as a multi-purpose room causes scheduling conflicts with physical education classes. Should the district be building a new elementary school building? The district reviewed enrollment trends in relation to population growth in the school district as well as the available classroom space of the current elementary school.
