Why does the Easter bunny carry eggs?
First point. There is absolutely no historical evidence of any connection to any pagan festival. Easter is derived in part from the Jewish Passover – that is why its date is determined by the moon, the Jews use a lunar calendar – but has been a Christian festival since the beginning of the church – long before any involvement of anyone outside the Greek/Roman/Palestinian world. The rabbit (or hare) has NEVER been any part of the Christian church’s celebration. It became associated with Easter through a German folk myth or joke about hares laying eggs which was taken to the USA by German immigrants. Americans turned it into the Easter Bunny.
