Why does the earth spin faster than the sun?

To make it a short and simple answer: Size makes no difference. When the galaxy/solar system was forming, the cosmic particles and hydrogen atoms (etc) that were thrown from massive explosions (supernovas), were traveling at great speed, their gravities made them drift closer and closer and made them spin around each other. More particles gather in to create the size and mass of all the planets. and planets are round because of their rotations (spinning). But, and here the main answer to your question, Size doesn’t matter for the speed it rotates. It all has to do with the speed it had when forming, and also any changes caused by meteor impacts, etc. Venus actually spins in the opposite direction of all other planets, and spins slowly, so it’s Day is longer than it’s year.
