Why does the DPW need a new facility?
The current DPW Operations facility is in poor shape. The building has not been upgraded in forty years, it does not meet building codes in several instances, and it is not handicapped accessible. The equipment storage garage is too small and not appropriate for a modern public works facility. The ventilation system is inadequate, the roof leaks and the garage structure itself leans towards the north. There is also no barrier between the office and garage which leads to diesel fumes leaking into the offices.
