Why does the curriculum framework focus on Essential Learning Achievements?
The 25 Essential Learning Achievements (ELAs) set priorities for learning by all ACT students across the range of subjects and key learning areas. The ELAs guide schools to take a consistent approach to the teaching of knowledge, skills and values essential for students in the twenty-first century. Individual schools have the flexibility to organise their curriculum as they wish, as long as they cover all of the ELAs. Schools can also decide on additional worthwhile learning to include in teaching programs for their particular students and school communities.
