Why does the County not permit scavenging at waste facilities?

0

The Ontario Ministry of the Environment Regulation 347 prohibits scavenging (or the uncontrolled removal of materials from waste facilities). Once an item is dropped off at a waste facility, the County becomes responsible for managing its proper disposal. The County supports the principle of reuse, and encourages residents and businesses to consider suitable alternatives to landfilling reusable items. The County has three Reuse Centres (at the Aberfoyle Waste Facility, the Belwood Waste Facility and the Riverstown Waste Facility) to allow for the controlled removal of select items.
