Why does the color black absorb more heat from the sun?
Black is not a color in the spectrum of light. Those who said black is the least reflective color are wrong for this reason. Black is the color you see in the absence of light. When you walk into a dark room with absolutely no light, what color do you see??? Since no light is being reflected, it is all being absorbed. Each particle of light, or photon, has a certain energy related to its wavelength (E = h * l, where h is a constant). Since all (or most of) the wavelengths of visible light are being absorbed, the energy associated with each wavelength is being absorbed. Heat is a form of energy, so black items get hotter.
