Why does the C80 print output look different than my other Epson Color printer?
The C80 uses a new pigmented ink technology called “Durabright”. DuraBrite color ink pigments are encapsulated in a resin polymer which gives them their long lasting and water resistant properties. The black ink is not encapsulated and therefore composite black is used when Glossy paper is selected. You may notice darker tones as a result of the different ink type. The majority of printers use a dye based ink, which is slightly lighter than a pigment based ink. The advantage of Durabright ink is that is has increased archival capabilities; such that it will last up to 70 years on a matte heavy weight paper. The colors produced by DuraBrite inks may look slightly different than those produced by dye-based ink. Due to the nature of pigment inks, lighting conditions can affect the appearance of printer output.
