Why does the Broad Medical Research Program (BMRP) use a Letter of Interest in the application process?

0

The purpose of the Letter of Interest is to save the applicants the time and effort which would occur in having to prepare a full grant application if their proposals do not meet the criteria and interests of the BMRP. Letters of Interest are evaluated by several ad hoc peer reviewers who are experts in the specific areas of research. Feedback is then provided to the Principal iInvestigators to improve their proposals and assist them in preparing their full grant applications or for their future endeavors. Most but not all Letters of Interest are sent out for peer review. Some are approved or denied based on how closely they meet the BMRP’s objectives.
