Because according to the BBC, Northern affairs are unimportant and Southern affairs are. They claim this is not so by explaining that ‘it follows the natural curvature of the Earth’. I personally think this is utter garbage, and is instead the BBC hitting back at Northerners who watch too much ITV (idiots’ television).
