Why does the backup appear to stop responding in the middle of the backup?
This is typically caused by trying to backup files larger than 4 GB. Since the drive is formatted using the FAT32 file system, and due to the FAT32 4GB file size limitation, these files cannot be backed up and the software will appear to stop responding. To correct this problem, the drive will need to be reformatted / repartitioned. On Windows systems this can be done in the “disk management” application. For Mac OS the “disk utility” program is used.
