This is a problem with your X server configuration. Somehow, your backspace key is generating Delete instead of BackSpace. On UNIX, the problem can be solved by adding xmodmap -e “keycode 22 = BackSpace” to your ~/.xinitrc file. If you are using an X server for Microsoft Windows®, please consult the appropriate documentation.
