Why does the ASRT Foundation require a graduation date of Sept. 1?
The purpose of our scholarship program is to enable students to receive a certificate or degree in the radiologic sciences; therefore, scholarship funds are for tuition, fees and other expenses related to completing the educational program. Scholarship awards are made out to the school to be credited to the student’s account. The earliest these funds will arrive is mid-June. We have found that students who graduate prior to September do not have student account balances at this time because they are within 90 days of graduatsion. Prior to the implementation of this graduation date, checks were returned to the ASRT Foundation in some cases. In other cases, the entire amount of funding was released to the student and we had no assurance that the money was used for educational expenses. We must comply with our donors’ wishes that funding help students attain degrees or certificates in the field.
