Why does the A-10 Thunderbolt (Fighter Plane) make that strange buzzing noise from the front?

It is the tips of the turbofan blades breaking the sound barrier. Unlike most military aircraft, the A-10 uses podded high bypass turbofans similar to those found on medium to large business jets. Since the fan air is much slower than the core air and muffles it, you don’t hear the exhaust as much. You can hear the same sort of sound off of modern airliners, but their engines are much larger, so the sound is a lower pitch. Other fighter jets (like the F-18) use low bypass turbofans that are buried deep in the fuselage so you can’t hear the fan. Also they mix the small amount of fan air with the hot exhaust and shoot it out one nozzle per engine, giving that WHOOOSHH sound. You can hear it clearly in this video. And don’t tell me he’s taking off with the cannon firing. It can only fire for 17 seconds and makes a lot of smoke.
