Why does teak turn black and grey?
Many people think that teak becomes black or grey because dirt is getting stuck in the wood, but this is not true. The black and grey spots on teak are actually mold and mildew growing in the wood (you can read more about this on our Teak Cleaning Page). TeakGuard doesn’t have this problem. Because it is not organic like oils, mold and mildew cannot grow in the teak and the teak won’t turn black or grey.
