Why does SUN TV programming occasionally appear in place of a U.S. stations broadcast?
SUN TV purchases the rights to air some American programming in Canada. Broadcasting regulations allow for a Canadian broadcaster to air a particular program without having to compete with distant broadcasters who have not purchased the rights for this market. Through a request to the cable company or satellite provider, when a program airs on SUN TV at the same time as a distant station, the cable company will play our program on both SUN TV and the American station.
