WHY does Structured Monitoring have such a dramatic impact on students performance?
There are several reasons. First, research tells us that a close connection with faculty, staff, and peers is a major factor in student success. Second, the Learning Support Specialists are attuned to both the demands of RIT and the needs of their students. They can help a student direct time and energy in the most productive manner, avoiding common pitfalls and barriers. Third, many students who have had academic support in high school are not aware of or ready for the shift in responsibility from the school to the individual.
