Why does StringPort require a fast modern computer?
Other companies have used dedicated hardware for processing and synthesis control. These devices are expensive and have a closed architecture. What they do when you purchase them is likely to be all they ever do. StringPort is expandable and able to integrate with other applications. Also our pitch, timbre and signal processing algorithms are beyond anything ever attempted. We use multiple analysis techniques to guarantee fast MIDI conversion without glitches. And we do all of this times six – once for each string. Computers just keep getting faster and operate with multiple cores. We chose to make our application without compromise, knowing that CPUs only get faster.
