Why does Singer sewing machine 201-2 run slowly?
Another possible problem could be thread wrapped around one of the rotating shafts between the balance wheel and the body of the machine, or under the rotating hook. Look all around the machine for tiny pieces of thread sticking out and, if you find some, pull them. You might find a long piece of thread wrapped many times around a shaft, binding it.
