Why does Satellite infrastructure still render Haps service necessary?
Satellite infrastructure has many excellent features and – as with ground infrastructure – it will always exist as a key layer of infrastructure. However, Satellite infrastructure can only enable services to be delivered to fixed locations via relatively expensive user-access equipment. Importantly it cannot at any price deliver services to common mobile/celt phones Haps infrastructure can. Satellite operators can utilise Haps service to deliver their own services to mass mobile users – in particular broadcast services.
