Why does Rogers have a monthly bandwidth activity limit?
In an effort to keep pace with the evolving Internet needs of our Rogers High Speed customers and to continue providing you with a fast and efficient service, we have implemented a combined upload and download bandwidth limit of 102,400 Megabytes (100 GB) per month for the Extreme Service and 61,440 Megabytes (60 gigabytes) per month for Ultra-Lite, Lite and Express. This is a very generous limit which is approximately equal to the consumption of a typical customer in an entire year. This limit was announced on February 15 2005. New Internet file sharing applications have had a dramatic impact on the way people use the available network capacity. It is Rogers responsibility to ensure that these activities do not negatively affect how other customers experience the Internet. This limit is one of the measures we are taking to address this issue.
